Week 2 Has come and gone.

White Bear Bears 1 (2,6,2.5) @ Centerville Chaos 2 (5,1,4.5)
Centerville Continued there hot start with a 2-1 victory over slumping White Bear and are now 5-1on the season while White Bear falls to 2-4.

Centerville took the early lead in the hitting category led by Nelson Cruz .391 with 9 hits and 5 Rbi.  Logan Morrison chipped in with 2 homers and 5 rbi as the Chaos cruised to a (5-2) victory despite Jose Altuve's valiant effort.  Altuve hit .529 with 9 hits 7 runs 7 bb's and 4 stolen bases.

White Bear stormed back in the Pitching category with a well rounded dominant performance.  7-0 record with a 1.46 ERA .175 BAA .872 WHIP and 8.94 K/9 may be the best performance in league history.  James Paxton was the star with 15 IP 6 H 0ER 17 K's and 2 wins.  WB (6-1)

Centerville recovered in time to take the Mixed category (4.5-2.5)  Chris Sale was instrumental in the victory as he recorded 22 strikeouts in 14.2 innings and had a 13.5 k/9 to seal the victory.

Roesville Raiders 1 (5,3.5,3) @ Township Tomahawks 2 (2,3.5,4)
Roesville came out of the gates hot led by Francisco Lindor who had 10 hits 6 runs and 3 2b's.  Max Kepler added 4 runs 4 DT a homer and 5 rbi as the Raiders won (5-2)

The pitching matchup was a tightly contested battle and came down to a home cooking for Township (3.5-3.5).  Carlos Carrasco was the hero double start 13.2 inn with 8 hits and 12 K's.  I think Roesville will be looking forward to the rematch next time around.

Township again squeaked out a (4-3) win in the Mixed category.  Great defense on both sides as neither team committed an Error.  Both teams also had 14 appearances.  The 8.52 K/9 was the deciding factor for the Tomahawks.  With the victory Township improves to 4-2 while Roesville drops to 1-5 and looks like last years playoff appearance was a fluke.  Maybe at some point he will call up some of his best players who are rotting in the minors, but I doubt it.

Hugo Hurt Locker 3 (6,5.5,4.5) @ Little Falls Polaks 0 (1,1.5,2.5)
In a battle for 1st place Hugo Hurt Locker continued to show why they are the team to beat in the Junior Circuit.  Hugo took 16 runs en route to a sweep of the over matched Polaks.

Jonathan Schoop led Hugo hitters with 9 hits 5 runs 3 doubles 2 homers and 6 rbi.  Hugo dominated and won the hitting category (6-1) only losing stolen bases 3-2.

It was more of the same in the pitching category as Hugo won (5.5-1.5)  only losing ERA 3.07 to 2.96.  Michael Pineda had 2 wins  in 14.2 innings with 17 k's to lead the way.

Hugo showed why they are the early season favorite by completing the sweep of Little Falls with a (4.5-2.5) win in the Mixed category.  Miguel Cabrera had 4 walks and played stellar defense to secure the sweep.

Dinkytown Wildcats 1 (5,0,3.5) @ Twin City Brewers 2 (2,7,3.5)
Despite 13 homers from the Brewers hitters the Wildcats were able to take the hitting category (5-2) and an early lead.  New comer Jose Ramirez hit over .520 with 11 hits and 8 rbi and newer comer Avisail Garcia also had 11 hits.

The Brewers dominated the consensus worst staff in the league in Dinkytown.  A complete game shutout by Ervin Santana and a Gem turned in by Yu Darvish  help the Brewers (7-0) take home the pitching matchup and tie the game at 1.

The Mixed game was another close one and gave us our second home cooking of the week as the Brewers won (3.5-3.5).  Both teams played well defensively only committing 2 errors a piece.  Brewers narrow victory was finished off with a 9.96 K9 to 9.70 K9 to take the 2-1 victory over the Wildcats.
