RULE CHANGE:
Just a quick note regarding End of the Season Rosters.
The Commissioner suggested a rule change at the 2016 Draft, this rule was voted on by the League Managers and approved at the 2016 Draft. This rule was created because in the WBLFBL post season, Teams that did not make the Playoffs are forbidden from making Roster Moves this is because their transactions could effect the outcome of the Playoffs. Therefore it would be an unfair advantage to the Teams that do make the playoffs, if they could keep players they picked up after the rosters locked. Many times these hot young call ups to the MLB teams are their rookie talent known as "September Call-Ups" that could help their MLB team in their push to make the playoffs. The point is these teams would have a chance to add good rookie players who are not in a WBLFBL Farm System, without using a Minor league draft pick, effectively negating the minor league draft order. This negates our leagues' attempt to provide an advantage to those Franchises who did not perform as well as the others.
The following rule has been added to the League Bilaws:
End of Season Rosters consist of players that must have been on their teams roster at the start of the final week of the WBLFBL Regular Season. Any eligible Free Agents picked up after this date will not be eligible for the following years Roster Protection and will roll back into the General Free Agent Player Pool. Players picked up after the End of Season Rosters are set, are not eligible to be traded prior to the Roster Protection Date. Also Players who were dropped in order to pick up these September call-ups, will not be given back to the team who released them those players will be rolled back to the General Free Agency Pool. The release of contracted players will result in Penalties or fines. Farm System Players activated during this period will be eligible to be Protected on the Roster Protection. Those Farm Players will lose their Farm System eligibility and remain on the Regular season roster if the Franchise desires to keep them.
