Little Falls (1) at White Bear (2): Little Falls hitters were hot all week long with a .329 AVG 10 HR and 30 RBI on there way to a 7-0 in the hitting category. White Bears young trio of Pitchers Danny Duffy, Henderson Alvarez, and Tommy Milone combined for a 2.30 era and a .87 whip in 33 innings to give WB a 5.5 to 1.5 win. The difference in this matchup came down to defense. White Bear committed 0 errors to Little Falls 4 to give WB the edge in the mixed category.
Series MVP: Danny Duffy 6 IP 8 K's 0.00 ERA allowing only 1 H and picking up the WIN
Hitter: Josh Willingham 10 H, 3 HR, .455 avg.
Twin City (1) at Midway (2): Midway's elder statemen Derek Jeter 12 H, 2 HR, .429 Avg combined with David Ortiz 11 H, 8 RBI, and .458 avg was enough to win the Hitting category. As well as Midway hit Twin City was even stronger in the Pitching category as Beckett, C. Lewis, and Kuroda went 20.2 innings yielding only 1 ER and a .8 Whip. You throw in a 2-0 Record and 15 K's from Ivan Nova and you have a 6-1 win for TC. Midway was able to use a nice well rounded week and take the Mixed game as well.
Series MVP: Derek Jeter
Dinkytown (1) at Hugo (2): Hugo spent big money on Pujols and Fielder so that they could win hitting like they did this week. 61 H and a .310 Avg were both very strong. However as the new "Studs" struggled it was the likes Chris Ianetta .353 with 2 HR and 7 RBI and Denard Span .458 with 11 H. Dinkytown countered with a Great Pitching performance 3.29 ERA and a 1.07 Whip to even the score. DT's Texas Tandem of Feliz and Holland went 19+ innings with 14k's and a low 2.30 ERA. In the mixed game the Hugo consistency paid off again with only 2 hitters below .300 this week the mixed numbers really began to pile up and Hugo picked up the win. Hugo enjoys the first taste of Home cooking as they take the home team win in the 3.5 - 3.5 tie in mixed.
Series MVP: Denard Span
Honorable Mention: Michael Young 12 hits, 8 Rbi, and .414 avg.
Township (0) at Roesville (3): This heated battled was close all week long and wasn't decided until a 9th inning single by Curtis Granderson finally sealed the deal as Roesville picked up the first sweep of the season. Not necessarily on Merit but on circumstance as Roesville's Pitching went 2-4 with a 5.06 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and still won the pitching category. Hitting was very close as both teams hit 8 HR's. Runs, Hits, and AVG were decided by 3, 4, .05 respectively but Roesville prevailed again. Township Pitching Phil Hughes and Jonathan Sanchez 16.70 ERA meltdowns and all that went with it was enough to erase CJ Wilsons brilliant week 13 IP 2-0 and 1.38 ERA and send Roesville to another win in the Mixed Category.
Series MVP: Josh Hamilton 11 hits and 3 HR's

ReplyDeleteFun first week. It was down to the wire with our matchup...1 more rbi (come'on Morneau, how many guys were LOB with 2 outs and you choking on the k or EASY popup?) Awesome commentary on matchups huggy.
ReplyDeleteSurprised you didn't go with milone as your MVP with the bone you have over him
ReplyDeleteThanks for the weekend Wrap up Commissioner. I felt great about my position/stats all week, until about Saturday night right when the dueling banjos (Hughes and Sanchez) took to their mounds. I would have never dreamed the shit storm I was in for, the longest 4 combined innings of my life. I was losing categories one after another.
ReplyDeleteRoseville, I hope to defecate upon your team in our next meeting. I am guessing your luck will run out next time we meet.
