White Bear Bears (1) vs Midway Mets (2)...The Mets came out swinging again this week. Father Time Derek Jeter paced the Mets with an 11 hit 7 run 2 homerun and 6 rbi performance. The highly questioned resigning of such an decrepid shortstop has paid off thus far.
The Bears battled back with two wins out of Ricky Romero and a 7 inning 4 hit 8 strikeout performance out of Jake Peavy. Could Peavy be returning to his days as a perennial Cy Young candidate? Only time will tell. The Bears young staff has been solid with his veteran leadership in the clubhouse.
The Mets combination of Health, # of Yankee hitters facing Twins pitching, and good fortune led to a closely contested win in the Mixed category.
Series MVP: Derek Jeter
Little Falls (1) vs Twin City Brewers (2)... Little Falls started quickly in this one taking the hitting category easily with 13 DT, 13 HR, and 43 RBI. Matt Wieters led the potent attack with 3 Homers and 8 RBI to go with a solid average. Every hitter for Little Falls had between 5 and 9 hits as they got help from every spot in the order. All of this was needed to fend off the scorching bat of Mike Napoli who clubbed 5 homers and 10 rbi to go with his .440 avg for the week.
The Pitching category was not as highly contested. The Brewers standing behind the most Controversial move in WBLFBL history and calling up Yu Darvish has paid dividends thus far. Darvish has been as advertised as he posted a 1.42 ERA and a .095 BAA and picked up a win to lead the Brewers to a win.
The Mixed category was another route for the Brewers. As Little Falls defenders or lack there of commited 11 ERRORS in the field. Maybe someone should remind Little Falls that Defense wins Championships. I feel like it should be noted that Little Falls posted a 8.90 ERA with a 2.07 WHIP and a .362 BAA. Maybe some pitching would help too.
Series MVP: Mike Napoli
Roesville Raiders (3) vs Hugo Hurt Locker (0)...Does Roesville ever play on the road. 2 more rounds of Home cooking for Roesville and the Hurt Locker battled to a Tie in Pitching and Mixed only to lose via homefield. Josh Hamilton went 12-26 with 3 bombs and 11 rbi with a .462 AVG to lead the Raiders to a 5-2 victory in the Hitting category.
More of the same in the Pitching Category for Roesville as another High Priced free agent dominated as King Felix tossed an 8 inning 12K shutout. I am sensing a pattern here for Roesville. Maybe next year the teams with all the money should snag some of the Super Stars.
Roesville was again solid all around this week. Posting a 3.70 ERA, a .262 AVG and went 58.1 innings and picked up 58 k's. Roesville is the early season pick, and why not after a Perfect 6-0 start. Hugo better luck in the rematch, do the same thing when your at Home and you have a 2-1 Win.
Series MVP: Josh Hamilton
Dinkytown Wildcats (0) vs Township Tomahawks (3)... The Tomahawks trying to push there way into the upper eschelon of teams, swept the Wildcats and picked up 17.5 runs in the process. The Tomahawks continue to rock a Double catcher tandem of Joe Mauer and AJ Pierzynski and to the surprise of ALL it is actually working. The catchers combined for 19 hits and solid k's and bb's to help win the mixed category as well.
Pitching Category.... PHIL HUMBER enough said. I don't think Phil is too happy that Dinkytown sent him packing right beforet the season started as a throw in. It looks like Phil has finally found a home with Township. Oh and I guess the 1.80 ERA out of Weaver and Haren in 29+ innings doesn't hurt too much either.
Despite the early week loss of Asdrubal Cabrera to the bereavement list the Tomahawks were still able to win the mixed category 6-1. With Townships Pitching staff as dominant as it has been so far this early season this team should be in contention come September. Whether its for the #1 Pick or for a playoff spot is yet to be determined.
Series MVP: Phil Humber

White Bears young trio of Pitchers Danny Duffy, Henderson Alvarez, and Tommy Milone combined for a 2.30 era and a .87 whip in 33 innings to give WB a 5.5 to 1.5 win. The difference in this matchup came down to defense. White Bear committed 0 errors to Little Falls 4 to give WB the edge in the mixed category.
Series MVP: Danny Duffy 6 IP 8 K's 0.00 ERA allowing only 1 H and picking up the WIN

Twin City (1) at Midway (2): Midway's elder statemen Derek Jeter 12 H, 2 HR, .429 Avg combined with David Ortiz 11 H, 8 RBI, and .458 avg was enough to win the Hitting category. As well as Midway hit Twin City was even stronger in the Pitching category as Beckett, C. Lewis, and Kuroda went 20.2 innings yielding only 1 ER and a .8 Whip. You throw in a 2-0 Record and 15 K's from Ivan Nova and you have a 6-1 win for TC. Midway was able to use a nice well rounded week and take the Mixed game as well.
Series MVP: Derek Jeter
Dinkytown (1) at Hugo (2): Hugo spent big money on Pujols and Fielder so that they could win hitting like they did this week. 61 H and a .310 Avg were both very strong. However as the new "Studs" struggled it was the likes Chris Ianetta .353 with 2 HR and 7 RBI and Denard Span .458 with 11 H. Dinkytown countered with a Great Pitching performance 3.29 ERA and a 1.07 Whip to even the score. DT's Texas Tandem of Feliz and Holland went 19+ innings with 14k's and a low 2.30 ERA. In the mixed game the Hugo consistency paid off again with only 2 hitters below .300 this week the mixed numbers really began to pile up and Hugo picked up the win. Hugo enjoys the first taste of Home cooking as they take the home team win in the 3.5 - 3.5 tie in mixed.
Series MVP: Denard Span
Honorable Mention: Michael Young 12 hits, 8 Rbi, and .414 avg.
Township (0) at Roesville (3): This heated battled was close all week long and wasn't decided until a 9th inning single by Curtis Granderson finally sealed the deal as Roesville picked up the first sweep of the season. Not necessarily on Merit but on circumstance as Roesville's Pitching went 2-4 with a 5.06 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and still won the pitching category. Hitting was very close as both teams hit 8 HR's. Runs, Hits, and AVG were decided by 3, 4, .05 respectively but Roesville prevailed again. Township Pitching Phil Hughes and Jonathan Sanchez 16.70 ERA meltdowns and all that went with it was enough to erase CJ Wilsons brilliant week 13 IP 2-0 and 1.38 ERA and send Roesville to another win in the Mixed Category.
Series MVP: Josh Hamilton 11 hits and 3 HR's
Series MVP: Danny Duffy 6 IP 8 K's 0.00 ERA allowing only 1 H and picking up the WIN
